Stage 1: Registration and Initial Assessment
The first step is to register your interest by completing our online form. We will use this initial information to assess the strength of your claim.
Stage 2: Evidence Gathering
If your case has merit, we will begin gathering evidence to support your claim. This includes obtaining copies of your university’s Terms and Conditions for your year of entry, which form the contract between you and the institution.
Stage 3: Letter of Claim
Once we have assembled the evidence, we will send a formal Letter of Claim to the relevant university on your behalf. This letter sets out the legal basis for your claim, including breach of contract and breach of consumer protection laws. The University is required to respond within a specified timeframe, either admitting liability, denying the claim, or proposing settlement discussions.
Stage 4: Court Proceedings
If the University refuses to offer fair compensation, we will issue court proceedings on your behalf. Given the number of students potentially affected, this may proceed as a group litigation or under case management directed by a Judge, with multiple claimants pursuing their claims together.
Stage 5: Compensation
If your claim succeeds—whether through settlement or judgment—you will receive compensation for the diminution in value of the educational services you received, you may receive compensation for any consequential losses such as accommodation costs incurred while studying remotely. The precise amount will depend on your individual circumstances and the extent to which your education was affected.
