Job Role – Paralegals/Apprentice Solicitors
We are looking for an ambitious Paralegal/ Apprentice solicitor to add to our litigation department. Successful applicants will be considered for apprenticeship in the next IPLS intake providing an excellent pathway to apprenticeship. Desired skills – ambition and an eagerness to learn, competence with Microsoft outlook, word and excel. Previous experience with Legal Aid LAMS is desirable but not necessary. Successful applicants will have excellent exposure to other areas of general practice to include criminal law, family law and Wills and Probate.
Duration: Full time.
Hours of work: Monday – Friday 9:30 to 5:30.
Criteria
* 2:1 in Law from a recognised University,
* IT skills, MS Office (Word, Excel and outlook)
* Previous experience with LAMS (online legal aid applications) is preferable but not necessary
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
* taking initial instructions from clients
* assisting solicitors with running a caseload of litigation files
* Completing online applications for legal aid funding in respect of clients on LAMs
* managing and arranging appointments for solicitors
* Expected to act as a key interface, ensuring that communications and information from internal and external contacts are forwarded and managed effectively.
* the ability to take informed decisions and to plan, organise and re-prioritise tasks to meet competing demands.
